&lt;p&gt;I'm not fond of the Cuban government -- I detest all dictatorships -- but while it's no workers paradise, it also seems clear to me that it isn't the hell on earth that the right has always been trying to sell it as either. &lt;/p&gt;

		<description>Cuba provides one liter of milk per day for one U.S. penny to children six and under, pensioners, nursing mothers, and others on special needs diets.

Others wanting milk have to pay for it.

Children 7 and up receive yogurt and/or cheese daily as part of their free lunch.

A large part of Cuba's milk production goes to produce the world's best ice cream, also highly subsidized, for which people line up virtually around the clock.

Given Cubans' genetic background, African and Mediterranean, it is likely that a fair part of the population is lactose intolerant and should be getting their milk as yogurt or cheese.</description>
