<description>Hey John P.! Good for you and your poll working working ways! And also thanks for posting that link.

Glad to hear that it sounds like you guys are being trained properly. In my tongue-in-cheek way, I was only paraphrasing what was written in the Courage Campaign post I linked to. Basically, the concern is, I think, that not all poll workers may know about the law. It's possible that not everyone is getting the quality of training you did, it's also possible that the Courage Campaign's info is bad or they are just being over cautious.

In my volunteer work spreading the word on this for the Obama campaign in OC, I did talk to a woman in Riverside County who had spoken to her local registrar of voters and been told that she would need to file some kind of legal paperwork with a judge in order to vote, so it appears there may at least some very bad misinformation out there in at least some places...I have a sneaking suspicion that this kind of thing might be a much bigger problem in a place like Riverside than in L.A., or maybe not. But I'm glad to here at least one well-informed cinephile is involved in this...makes a guy have some hope for democracy!

		<description>Dear Bob,

There should be no need to be firm or insistent about Non-Partisan voters voting Democratic. You don't even have to ask. We'll ask you!

I will be a poll worker Tuesday February 5 and we are trained to ask all Non-Partisan voters "Do you wish to vote for candidates in either the American Independent or Democratic Party?"

That's a direct quote from p.20 of the Election Guide and Checklist.

I don't know where you got the idea that this was some sort of secret deal, or that poll workers would not be advised, or that poll workers might hide this fact from the public (has this ever happened before?).

I trust all poll workers will have the same information I have. If not, well, please be insistent and report the failure to www.lavote.net.
