		<description>I hear you, Jamie. It's kind of an ironic moment that gets me cringing slightly as well -- but when I mentioned that moment to a Japanese-American friend of mine, he kind of shrugged. There was a war going on and the term was so widely used at the time that it had probably lost all meaning right then through sheer overuse. (Although, obviously, a lot of wartime talk and propaganda was deeply racist.) Still, unconscious racism was huge right then, and I wonder if Albert Maltz and company might have been more sensitive if it had been a battle over Germany and involved "Krauts."

		<description>I'm a huge Frank Sinatra fan (at the ripe old age of 25), and I've always admired "The House I Live In." The only thing is, I always cringe when he refers to 'the Japs' in what otherwise is an amazing short that is years ahead of its time.</description>
